With a lot of people at home right now, getting out and enjoying the sunshine is just as important as always! Not to mention, Vitamin D helps your immune system, so it may be more important than ever to get outside! I have been taking walks every day to get some fresh air and some exercise. Here are some of my tips to keep you safe!
Walk/Bike in the OPPOSITE direction as traffic.
If you're walking or biking along the road, this is especially important. That way, you can see if a car is coming and move out of the way. If you have headphones in and can't hear oncoming traffic, this is incredibly important.
Use sunscreen
I know it's hard to believe that it's April, but it is, and that Carolina sun is starting to come out. Use sunscreen when you are going to be outside to avoid sun burn and sun damage.
Take a grocery bag with you
This is something that I have taken to doing to help clean up my neighborhood at the same time. I fold the bag over my hand so I don't have to touch the trash, but pick it up and take it with me, throwing it out in the dumpster outside my apartments before heading inside.
Bring a water bottle
Being outside in the sunshine, it's important to stay hydrated. Grab your favorite water bottle and get outside!
Have an accountability partner
My best friend has asked me every day if I have gone on my walk. It's important to get some fresh air.
Take your time
You don't have to do a marathon or a 5k! Just get outside and get moving! Even if it's just ten minutes a day, you're getting Vitamin D, fresh air, and just getting out of the house!
Take the iHeartRadio app with you
You can keep the Gator on while you get some fresh air, or if you're more into podcasts, the app has that too. Along with artist stations for all your favorites.
