When Dustin Lynch and Nancy O'Dell announced Sam Hunt's name as the winner of Single Record of the Year at Sunday night's ACM Awards, he wasn't in the building. The presenters looked a little confused as no one walked up to accept the award. They accepted the award on his behalf and O'Dell said, "Congratulations Sam, where are ya?"
Yesterday, through a post on Instagram, Sam cleared it up for us. He was in a wedding for his long time friend and tour manager John Worthington.
"Thank you Academy Of Country Music for the award for Single of the Year. I was celebrating the marriage of my long time friend and tour manager John Worthington. This made the weekend extra special. See y’all next year!"
This would mark his first ACM Award, thanks to his massive hit single "Body Like A Backroad."
