Lowdown from Twangtown

This year's "CMT Artists of the Year" special is going to be all female. As in, every honoree will be a woman. We're talking Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris, Carrie Underwood, Kelsea Ballerini . . . plus Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman . . . and Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott.

Is this their way of recognizing the #MeToo movement? Of course.

And maybe the dreadful lack of female Entertainer of the Year nominees at the CMAs and ACMs. Mostly it's a start, and it's appreciated.Maren Morris Tweeted, "Thank you for narrowing the gap in this industry. Proud to be honored among friends this night." Kelsea Ballerini said, "Goodness, I love you CMT." Hillary Scott wrote, "This puts a smile on my face like no other."And Little Big Town gave a shout-out. Quote, "Couldn't be any prouder to stand alongside these inspiring women. Thank you CMT."

No word yet on the list of performers. The show will air October 17th.

It all started for Carrie Underwood way back in 2005, that's when she competed on, and won American Idol season 4...

Now, here we are years later, and Carrie will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She will be the 2,646th celebrity to receive a star. Her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony will be on September 20th and available to live-stream.

Kane Brown’s new album, Experiment, comes out November 9th, and he’s teasing track #2... this one is called “Good As You” and you can check it out below:
