LeAnn Rimes performed a song powerful enough to bring listeners â and even herself â to tears. But, she said with a laugh, âcommunal crying is good for the soul.â
Rimes performed âinnocentâ on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna, one of her newest songs that released on her album godâs work earlier this month. She admitted when she shared a clip of the performance on Instagram on Thursday (September 22) that itâs an emotional song, and seeing hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager react to it made all the difference: âiâm not sure how i made it through this performance without crying, but after seeing [Kotb] & [Hager], I lost it⌠communal crying is good for the soul lolâŚâ
Rimes released godâs work on September 16, âa beautiful journeyâ â three years in the making â and serves as the dawn of a ânew chapterâ for the award-winning artist. She previously explained that she opted to keep the album and song titles all lowercased because, âif weâre arguing about why the âgâ is or isnât capitalized, weâre missing the whole point. Itâs so important for us to focus on the messages, rather than the nuances.â She spoke about the project with iHeartRadio when it released. Read her Q&A here.
godâs work also includes âspaceship,â âthe only,â âawakening,â âthe wildâ and other powerful, fan-favorite tracks. Watch Rimesâ full performance of âinnocentâ on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna here, and see her Instagram post below:Â
