Chris Young paused a recent performance to help a pregnant fan with her gender reveal.
The Young Love & Saturday Nights hitmaker posted a video of that moment on Instagram on Tuesday evening (June 4). He noticed the blue and pink lettering on a sign that a fan was holding, and said into the mic, “hang on. I gotta do this. Are you serious?” Young showed the sign to the cheering crowd. It read: “Chris, will you do my gender reveal?”
“I’ve never done one of these before,” Young said. He asked the mother-to-be what she was hoping for, and opened an envelope to reveal whether the woman in the audience was expecting a boy or a girl. Watch that moment here:
It’s a girl!
Young shared with the audience after helping the concert-goer with her gender reveal that he asked her what she was hoping for, and the fan replied, “a girl.” Young said he thought, “oh, cool, no pressure,” as he opened the envelope. The singer-songwriter confirmed: “It’s a girl.”
Young, gearing up to headline the Fourth of July celebration in Nashville, kicked off his “Young Love & Saturday Nights Tour” this spring, after releasing his ninth full-length studio album by the same name. The 18-track project is “the biggest album I’ve ever made,” he said. Young wrote or co-wrote 15 of the 18 tracks and produced the album alongside Corey Crowder and Chris DeStefano. Young said when the album released that Young Love & Saturday Nights has “songs that are really personal, songs that I have cranked up in the car on the way to go hang out with friends, songs I think people are gonna play possibly at their wedding, at the bar on a Friday night. I can’t wait for you guys, hopefully, to fall in love with this one like I have.”
