Carrie Underwood will perform at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration later this month.
The former American Idol champ and new judge in the show’s upcoming season (taking place 20 years after her career-launching win) will perform “America the Beautiful” at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. on Monday, January 20, per a photo of the program shared by political reporter Matthew Foldi on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday morning (January 13). The program shows Underwood will perform alongside the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club. Trump’s transition team also confirmed Underwood’s rendition of “America the Beautiful” to Axios in a report on Monday.
Underwood is set to perform after Vice President-elect J.D. Vance’s administered Vice Presidential Oath of Office, and before Trump’s Presidential Oath of Office, the program shows.
“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” Underwood said in a statement shared by the Tennessean, ABC News and other outlets on Monday. “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”
